The main function of the running capacitor is to reinforce the motor, improve the power factor, reduce current consumption and, consequently, reduce the motor temperature. They are devices recognized in the refrigeration world as permanent capacitors, i.e., they are kept connected in the compressor circuit to give them energy or the necessary force to compress the refrigerant. It operates continuously during engine operation, its basic importance is related to its function in the electrical connection circuit of the motor, isolating the starter winding, blocking the counter electromotive force that is induced in it. This function is what allows air conditioning equipment to replace the relay to disconnect the starter winding. It supports a voltage across its terminals, higher than the line voltage, originating in the motor starting winding.
